Diversity Matters in Commercial Terms

Diversity is not an afterthought for the politically correct. It isn’t some corporate PR exercise in being nice to people. Look at football: can you imagine a team scaling the heights without players from different ethnic backgrounds?

We live in multicultural and multi-ethnic societies and those that do best are those like the USA that make the most use of the contribution of the whole range of their citizens.

Here in Britain we have a large population of very dynamic people who are coming in to the mainstream both as professionals and as customers. Any business that is slow to include recognition of this reality will lose reputation, opportunity and, ultimately, profits.

What Happens Here

Diversity Matters is a consultancy aimed at helping business to understand and include. It isn’t a mystery; it isn’t rocket science. All you need is the ideas and a plan to launch them, a catalyst to set your strategy in motion and some down to earth training to bring it all to life.

Ross Brice saw this coming when he was in regional management for the TSB (now LloydsTSB) in the multi-ethnic areas of north London. He took the initiative and made himself a champion within the whole bank, nationwide. His methods worked and were copied. Over 10 years he won awards and tirelessly promoted the value of Diversity across the organisation and in the media, attracting the attention of the Financial Times.

He pioneered the highly successful Joblink programme, working in partnership with local groups, identifying and nurturing talent in ethnic communities and opening the door for them to build good careers. An “Ethnic Windfall for Lloyds” was how Personnel Today described the outcome.
